(SRN NEWS)-(  )  In the midst of the war in Iran, Christian ministries abroad continue to spread the gospel and television is a big part of that.  For two decades Christian TV channels produced in the United States and Europe have made their way into Iranian homes. Thousands of satellite dishes dot the rooftops of Tehran and other Iranian cities, picking up signals that originate far beyond Iran’s borders despite the government’s opposition.  Tracking who actually watches these channels is extremely difficult, but producers have evidence that Christian broadcasts are helping foster and sustain secret house churches all across Iran.

(  )  According to a new poll from the Gallup organization, interest in religion is rising amongst some cohorts of Generation Z — Americans ages 14-to-29.  Much of the growth in religiosity is happening among young Republicans.  The data shows that since 2022, religious attendance has increased among Republican young men and women compared to Democratic men and women.  The percentage of young Republican men who attend church, synagogue, mosque or temple at least weekly has been rising since 2019, while young Democratic men’s attendance has largely fallen.  There’s a similar pattern among women.

(  )  The U.S. Commission on International Freedom reports that despite some small improvements in recent years, conditions for Christians in Cuba are still bleak.  The Commission says “The Cuban government maintains its comprehensive legal framework for suppressing freedom of religion or belief, under which religious leaders and communities are continually harassed and threatened.  Authorities also reneged on limited relief that was briefly granted to wrongfully imprisoned victims.” The Commission is calling on the Trump administration to reassign Cuba as a country of particular concern for its violations of religious freedom.

(  )  America’s young men diverge from young women on some important moral questions.  The Pew Research Center reports that about four-in-10 men under 30 say divorce is morally wrong, compared to only about two-in-10 young women.  Even more men under 30 — about half — say abortion is morally wrong, compared to only about one-third of women the same age. Young men are also likelier than young women to say homosexuality is morally wrong, although both groups are substantially less likely than older men and women to hold this view.  Generation Z men are also more likely to be conservative than are women.
