LONDON (Reuters) – A British woman has been charged with stalking former British finance minister George Osborne and his wife for more than a year, according to court records.

Lydia Suffield, 27, is due to appear at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with stalking Osborne, finance minister from 2010 until 2016, and Thea Rogers between June 8, 2022, and July 5, 2023.

The charge alleges that Suffield, from Liverpool, sent emails and messages on Instagram to the couple, as well as “filing false referrals to the NSPCC”, a children’s charity.

No further details about the alleged offence were available. Suffield was unavailable for comment.

Osborne has held a variety of roles since leaving government including editor of newspaper the Evening Standard and now works for boutique investment bank Robey Warshaw as well as being chair of the British Museum. He married Rogers on July 8, 2023.

A spokesperson for Robey Warshaw did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Osborne’s behalf. Osborne did not answer a call seeking comment.
