Wings G Arike Ogunbowale arrested on battery charge

WNBA star Arike Ogunbowale was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge in Miami after allegedly punching a man in the face at a nightclub, according to police records.
Ogunbowale, a four-time All-Star guard for the Dallas Wings, was out celebrating Wednesday night’s Unrivaled 3-on-3 championship with her Mist teammates when the alleged incident occurred.
According to Miami-Dade County police, Ogunbowale punched a man with a closed fist, which caused him to fall to the ground outside of the club. She was arrested at 4:20 a.m. ET.
“The league is aware of an incident involving Arike Ogunbowale and we are in the process of gathering additional information,” an Unrivaled spokesperson told ESPN. “We’re in contact with Arike and her representatives.”
Ogunbowale scored 19 points in Wednesday’s final as Mist BC defeated Phantom BC 80-74 in Medley, Fla.
Ogunbowale, who turned 29 on Monday, has averaged 19.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 224 games in the WNBA since Dallas drafted her with the No. 5 overall pick in 2019. She is a three-time All-WNBA honoree and a two-time All-Star Game MVP.
“The Wings are aware of an incident involving Arike Ogunbowale and are in the process of gathering more information,” the team said in a statement to ESPN. “Further comments will be provided once we have more details.”
The Wings, coming off a 10-34 campaign, open the 2026 WNBA regular season on May 9 at the Indiana Fever.
