NEW YORK (Reuters) – A federal judge in Texas denied the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s motion to stay its lawsuit against Comerica Bank, according to a court order filed on Monday.

The consumer watchdog agency that has been largely shuttered by the Trump administration had asked a federal court earlier this month to pause its enforcement action against the bank. It is one of several high-profile lawsuits the agency has moved to either scrap or pause under new leadership.

A stay could negatively affect Comerica and the CFPB has failed to identify a hardship or other reason it cannot continue litigating this case, a judge in the Northern District of Texas said in the denial.
