WASHINGTON, March 18 (Reuters) – The U.S. Federal Communications Commission said on Wednesday it is exempting imports of four foreign-made drones from a sweeping import ban adopted in December.
The FCC determination followed a Pentagon determination that four drone models — SiFly Aviation Q12, Mobilicom SkyHopper Series, ScoutDI Scout 137 and Verge X1 — do not pose national security risks.
The FCC in January previously exempted imports of some new models of foreign-made drones and critical components through the end of 2026. None of the four models approved are from Chinese companies.
