Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa landed on the seven-day concussion injured list Friday after his collision with outfielder Byron Buxton during Thursday’s game.

Buxton was not placed on the concussion list and exited concussion protocol on Friday, FanDuel Sports Network North reported. Buxton will not play Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers, but is considered day-to-day.

During the third inning of Minnesota’s 4-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles, Correa and Buxton chased Cedric Mullins’ pop-up into shallow center field. Immediately after Buxton made the catch, the right side of his face banged into the back of Correa’s skull and both fell to the grass.

Correa immediately was replaced by second baseman Jonah Bride, with Brooks Lee shifting from second to shortstop. Buxton played the rest of the inning before being taken out.

Correa, 30, is batting .236 with two home runs and 13 RBIs through 41 games for the Twins, who have won 11 games in a row.

In a corresponding roster move, Minnesota selected the contract of Triple-A infielder Ryan Fitzgerald, who has yet to make his MLB debut. The 30-year-old has batted .328 through 35 games for Triple-A Saint Paul, with four homers and 21 RBIs.

The Twins also transferred right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin (right shoulder strain) to the 60-day injured list.
