US Senate Approves Mike Huckabee for Israel Ambassador Role

By The Media Line Staff

The US Senate on Wednesday approved former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as the next US Ambassador to Israel, overcoming partisan criticism in a vote of 53-46. The decision, largely supported by Republicans and opposed by all Democrats except Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman, comes at a time of heightened tension amid the war in Gaza and complex US-Israel trade relations impacted by recent tariffs.

An evangelical Christian and longstanding pro-Israel advocate, Huckabee has been a vocal supporter of Israel, frequently visiting the country and defending Jewish settlements in the West Bank. In response to the confirmation, the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) issued a statement celebrating Huckabee’s appointment.

“The RJC is thrilled to congratulate Ambassador Mike Huckabee on his bipartisan Senate confirmation to serve as US Ambassador to Israel,” said RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman and CEO Matt Brooks. “Israel has had no greater friend in the White House than President Trump, and Ambassador Huckabee will serve with distinction as part of the Trump administration’s Pro-Israel Dream Team.”
