UN Says Gaza Aid Deliveries Delayed by Security Hurdles, Limited Access

By The Media Line Staff

The United Nations said Tuesday that while more humanitarian aid is now entering Gaza, distribution remains slow and uneven due to security constraints, logistical bottlenecks, and limited daylight hours for safe operations.

“The first trucks of vital baby food are now inside Gaza after 11 weeks of total blockade, and it is urgent that we get that assistance distributed,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ spokesman Stéphane Dujarric. “We need much, much more to cross.”

Although Israel has allowed some aid to enter through the Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossing, Dujarric explained that most of it remains stuck at the checkpoint, awaiting security clearances and transport coordination. Only a few dozen trucks made it through on Tuesday.

Once cleared, deliveries must travel along approved routes amid ongoing Israeli military operations against Hamas. “While more supplies have come into the Gaza Strip, we have not been able to secure the arrival of those supplies into our warehouses and delivery points,” Dujarric said.

The UN also reported fresh displacement orders affecting 26 neighborhoods in northern Gaza. More than 57,000 people in southern Gaza and 81,000 in the north have been forced to flee since Thursday, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The Indonesian Hospital was reportedly damaged by an Israeli strike, and a school in An Nuseirat was hit, killing seven. UNRWA confirmed two more staff deaths, bringing its employee death toll above 300.

Fuel shortages continue to cripple water, sanitation, and food programs. OCHA warned that 80% of Gaza is now either under evacuation orders or within Israeli-militarized zones.
