United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday rejected any attempts to forcibly remove Palestinians from their land during a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Abu Dhabi, according to state media. The discussion, reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza and its broader implications for regional stability.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized that rebuilding Gaza must be part of a wider effort to achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace. He reaffirmed the UAE’s support for a two-state solution, which he described as essential for long-term stability in the Middle East.
The meeting also covered security concerns stemming from the war in Gaza, with Sheikh Mohamed warning that continued escalation could further destabilize the region. He called for intensified diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider conflict.
Beyond regional security, the leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and the US in economic, political, and humanitarian areas, according to WAM.
Rubio’s visit to Abu Dhabi is part of his first diplomatic tour of the Middle East as secretary of state. Before arriving in the UAE, he held meetings in Israel and Saudi Arabia, where he discussed US engagement in the region, the Gaza conflict, and efforts to prevent the war from expanding.
