‘There Is No Other Alternative’: GOP Senator Lindsey Graham Urges Israel To Accept Two-State Solution

By The Media Line Staff

US Sen. Lindsey Graham told attendees at the Republican Jewish Coalition summit that Israel’s survival as both a Jewish and democratic state hinges on a realistic two-state outcome once security conditions make it viable.

“Being pro-Israel means telling hard truths,” Graham said. “The only path that keeps Israel Jewish and democratic is a two-state framework, when the conditions are real.”

The South Carolina Republican, long known for his hawkish stance on Iran, said that after Hamas’ October 7 attack, Israel and its allies must combine military strength with a credible political horizon. “There is no other alternative,” he said. “A one-state solution would either end Israel as a Jewish state or leave millions without rights, which the world will not accept. To be pro-Israel, you need to be honest with Israel.”

Graham urged a sequence he called both practical and moral: remove Hamas as a fighting force, pressure Hezbollah to turn over its heavy weapons, and then rebuild Gaza with Arab partners such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. “Hamas must be gone as a governing and fighting force,” he said. “Then you put Gaza in the hands of Arabs who do not want to kill all the Jews.”

He warned Israeli hard-liners that annexation or permanent occupation would erode global support. “If you want to marginalize the Jewish state, go down that road,” he said. “It will do more damage to Israel’s future than any bomb Iran could ever build.”

Graham linked Hamas’ defeat to expanding normalization with Arab states, predicting that “a deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia” could be within reach by May 2026. He added that younger Americans need clearer education about Israel’s history and moral legitimacy, saying, “In parts of the media, Israel is the bad guy. In the Bible, Israel is the good guy. Education matters.”

He concluded that honesty, security, and vision must work together: “Wipe out Hamas. Press Hezbollah to disarm. Isolate Iran. Bring in Arab partners to rebuild Gaza … and keep your eyes on the horizon.”
