Pakistan Launches Retaliatory Strikes on India

[Islamabad] Pakistan has officially confirmed the launch of retaliatory strikes against India under a military operation named Bunyan Ul Marsoos—Arabic for “wall of lead”—in response to what it says were targeted attacks by India on Pakistani military installations.
The Pakistani military targeted multiple Indian military installations, including air bases in Pathankot, Udhampur, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, as part of a retaliatory operation. Among the strategic assets hit, officials say, were BrahMos ballistic missile storage facilities.
Senior Pakistani defense officials confirmed that the operation is now underway, warning that any further escalation will be met with a “full-spectrum response.”
The strikes come amid rapidly intensifying tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, with Islamabad characterizing India’s actions as a blatant violation of sovereignty and a dangerous provocation. There has been no immediate response from New Delhi, but regional observers are warning of a possible spiraling conflict unless urgent diplomatic deescalation measures are taken.
On Friday, Pakistan’s military announced that it had successfully intercepted and shot down 77 drones launched from India, with strikes occurring at multiple locations across the country, including the major cities of Karachi and Lahore, as well as Rawalpindi, the garrison city and home to the army’s headquarters.
Pakistan’s military confirmed the drone downing as part of ongoing defensive operations in response to rising tensions and crossborder provocations.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Pakistan’s military spokesperson, said in a short televised briefing that three Pakistani bases had been targeted in an act of “naked aggression.”
He said the military’s air defense systems responded “effectively and decisively,” thwarting most incoming threats aimed at key installations. “Our defense posture remains vigilant, and any further aggression will be met with a forceful response,” he warned.
Chaudhry confirmed that Pakistani air force assets remained unharmed and operational, emphasizing that India’s simultaneous strikes on Afghan territory were “further evidence of its destabilizing agenda.”
New Delhi’s actions, Chaudry, warned, are “pushing the entire region toward war.” He called on India to anticipate a Pakistani response.
The Pakistan Airports Authority announced early Saturday that the country’s entire airspace would be shut down in response to the Indian attack. This move affects both domestic and international air traffic.
