JoAnna Dias Sanchez, PsyD.MA, a youth and worship leader whose first trip to Israel was in 2011, has returned nearly every year since, making this her 11th visit. Yet nothing, she said, prepared her for standing where hundreds of young festivalgoers were murdered on Oct. 7. “Seeing their faces, so many young people, it overwhelms you,” she said. “You carry a weight that is not yours, but you feel it. It stays with you.”
