The United States, Egypt, and Qatar have jointly called on Israel and Hamas to engage in negotiations set for August 15, with the aim of finalizing a cease-fire and hostage release deal in Gaza. In a joint statement, the three countries, who have been acting as mediators, proposed that the talks take place either in Doha or Cairo.
“A framework agreement is now on the table, with only the details of implementation left to conclude,” the leaders stated. They emphasized that there is no further time to waste, urging all parties to move forward with the cease-fire and the release of hostages. The leaders also offered to present a “final bridging proposal” to resolve any remaining issues.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israeli negotiators would participate in the talks, with the goal of finalizing and implementing the framework agreement. However, there has been no immediate response from Hamas regarding the proposed negotiations.
