Mother of Freed Hostage Noa Argamani Passes Away After Reunion

Liora Argamani, who recently witnessed the return of her daughter Noa from Hamas captivity, has passed away from brain cancer at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, hospital authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Liora, aged 61, spent her final days alongside her daughter Noa, who was freed from months of captivity under harrowing circumstances. The hospital released a statement emphasizing the family’s request for privacy during this challenging time, reflecting the profound personal impact of Noa’s abduction and Liora’s subsequent illness.

Noa Argamani was one of the hostages taken during the brutal October 7 attack by Hamas, which resulted in the death of 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 individuals. Liora became a poignant symbol of the anguish faced by families of hostages, making heartfelt pleas for her daughter’s release as her health declined. In November, she publicly appealed for international assistance to secure Noa’s freedom, stating her wish to see her daughter once more before her passing.

Noa was rescued on June 8 in a daring raid by Israeli special forces in Gaza and was able to spend precious moments with her mother. Ichilov Hospital’s CEO, Ronni Gamzu, noted that despite Liora’s deteriorating health, she was aware of her daughter’s return.
