Israeli Minister Visits Mar-a-Lago, Miami PD, and Holocaust Sites in Florida Tour

By The Media Line Staff

Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir concluded a packed multi-day tour of Florida this week, combining meetings with law enforcement agencies, Jewish community leaders, and political allies to promote Israel’s security policies and strengthen ties with the American Jewish diaspora.

The visit began with engagements across Bal Harbour and Boca Raton, including a walk-through with local police, a visit to Everglades Prison, and meetings with incarcerated Jewish inmates and correctional officials. Ben-Gvir observed US rehabilitation programs, such as therapy dog training and art therapy, which he noted as potentially instructive for Israel’s prison system. He also met with key rabbis and the influential Moskowitz family, prominent supporters of settlement development.

At Mar-a-Lago, where Ben-Gvir voiced enthusiastic support for Donald Trump’s proposed plan for Gaza. While filming a video from the venue endorsing Trump’s vision, he met Republican leaders including Rep. Lloyd Smucker and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer.

The minister’s security-focused agenda continued with a tour of the Miami Police Department’s 911 and gunfire detection systems, tactical operations units, and SWAT equipment. Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales presented Ben-Gvir with a personalized shirt and expressed interest in further collaboration, including a planned visit to Israel in June. Ben-Gvir also spoke with local officials about US interrogation standards and civil rights protocols.

At Fort Lauderdale Jewish Academy, Ben-Gvir addressed students about Jewish pride and identity, followed by an Israeli community celebration in Hollywood, Florida, featuring singer Benny Elbaz and decorated parade trucks.

On his final day, Ben-Gvir visited the site of the 2021 Surfside condo collapse, laying flowers and holding a moment of silence for the 98 victims. He later participated in a Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony at The Shul in Bal Harbour.
