Israeli Military Destroys Underground Terrorist Hub in Rafah

By The Media Line Staff

Israeli forces uncovered and dismantled a tunnel network used by Hamas fighters in the southern Gaza city of Rafah following intelligence gathered during interrogations, the military said Saturday.

According to the Israeli military, several Hamas members surrendered during operations by the 188th Armored Brigade in the Shabura neighborhood of Rafah and were questioned by the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency. The detainees reportedly provided information that led troops to a significant underground structure.

Combat engineers from the military’s Yahalom unit, working with the 188th Brigade, located the subterranean complex approximately 25 meters underground. The tunnel stretched roughly one kilometer and included living quarters, a bathroom, a small kitchen, blast-resistant doors, and multiple exit shafts.

Troops investigated the site and later destroyed the infrastructure.

In parallel raids, Israeli soldiers entered additional tunnel sites nearby and recovered weapons and military equipment, which were also dismantled.

The Israeli military has recently ramped up its military operation in Gaza, which has been ongoing for more than a year and a half, with several ceasefires. Last week, the military announced the call-up of tens of thousands of reservists for an operation meant to put pressure on Hamas to release the dozens of Israeli hostages still in Gaza.
