Israeli security forces uncovered a major Hamas terror network in Hebron and intensified military operations across the Gaza Strip over the weekend, Israeli military and security forces said in a joint statement.
More than 60 Hamas terrorists, many previously imprisoned, were arrested in Hebron. Organized into 10 separate cells, they were involved in weapons training, intelligence gathering, and bomb-making. Security forces also seized firearms, grenades, and ammunition. These arrests are part of daily efforts by military and security forces to dismantle Hamas infrastructure in the West Bank and Gaza.
In Gaza, Israeli forces killed Hakam al-Issa, also known as Abu Omar al-Suri, a senior Hamas military commander linked to the October 7 attacks. Palestinian reports say his wife and grandson were also killed in the strike. Al-Issa led Hamas’s logistical and combat support division and was a founding member of its military wing.
The Israeli military said its operations in Gaza will continue and expand. Arabic-language spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee issued evacuation warnings for multiple neighborhoods, urging civilians to move south.
Meanwhile, in southern Syria, Israeli forces from the army’s 210th Division remain deployed along the border triangle where Israel, Syria, and Jordan meet. The military confirmed the arrest of multiple suspects linked to terrorist activity in the region. In May, Israel also established a field hospital near the Syrian village of Hader to treat civilians.
Israel’s Druze community, numbering around 152,000, has called on the government to step up protection for their coreligionists in southern Syria, where an estimated 40,000 Druze live.
