Israeli Airstrikes Hit Hezbollah Strongholds in Beirut After Financial Bunker Allegations
By The Media Line Staff
Israeli airstrikes targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs on Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday morning, following allegations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that Hezbollah was storing millions of dollars in cash and gold under Al-Sahel Hospital, located in the Hezbollah-controlled area of Dahiyeh.
The strikes were preceded by warnings from IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee, instructing residents of several buildings in the area to evacuate, citing their proximity to Hezbollah facilities. Despite these warnings, Lebanese media reported at least 13 Israeli airstrikes in the Hezbollah bastion, causing multiple casualties.
The Lebanese health ministry confirmed that four people, including a child, were killed, and 24 others were injured in the airstrikes. Significant damage was reported at the hospital, although it remained operational.
Hezbollah has denied the IDF’s allegations that the group was using the hospital to store half a billion dollars in assets. The hospital’s director, Fadi Alameh, invited the Lebanese army to inspect the site and rejected claims of any affiliation with Hezbollah.
The strikes come amid Israel’s intensified campaign against Hezbollah’s financial infrastructure, with IDF officials confirming that more than two dozen Hezbollah-linked financial targets, including Al-Qard Al-Hassan, had been hit over the past 24 hours. Al-Qard Al-Hassan, a financial institution linked to Hezbollah, has long been accused by Israel and the US of funneling funds for the militant group under the guise of charity.
