Iran’s President To Join BRICS Summit in Russia Despite Western Pressure

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian will participate in the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia, as confirmed by Tehran’s ambassador to Moscow on Sunday. The summit, set for October 22-24 in Kazan, comes amid heightened tensions with the West over military cooperation between Iran and Russia.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Iran of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, which may be used in Ukraine, raising concerns over European security. Despite denials from Tehran regarding the missile transfers, Iran faces new sanctions from the US, Germany, Britain, and France. Pezeshkian is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the summit, where both countries are anticipated to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement.
