Iran Rejects US Talks as Pezeshkian Condemns Pressure Tactics

By The Media Line Staff

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ruled out negotiations with the United States under pressure, telling US President Donald Trump to “do whatever the hell you want,” Iranian state media reported Tuesday. Pezeshkian’s remarks followed a letter from Trump urging Iran to discuss a new nuclear deal.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also dismissed talks, accusing “bullying governments” of using negotiations to impose their will. “The Islamic Republic of Iran will definitely not accept their expectations,” Khamenei said Saturday, according to Iranian state media. His statement came after President Trump told Fox News that Iran must either negotiate or face military action. “There are two ways Iran can be handled, militarily or you make a deal,” the president said.

President Trump’s letter is part of renewed US efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program. While Iran maintains its program is for peaceful purposes, Western nations suspect it is a cover for developing nuclear weapons. A US House resolution noted that Iranian officials recently suggested they could build a bomb, and reports indicate increased production of weapons-grade uranium.

Despite rejecting full-scale negotiations, Iran’s UN mission said Sunday that discussions on the “militarization” of its nuclear program could take place, but dismantling the program was not an option.

US lawmakers continue to debate potential agreements. Sen. Lindsey Graham has proposed a deal where Iran halts uranium enrichment and transfers its stockpile abroad while retaining nuclear energy capabilities.
