Iran Executes Alleged Mossad Agent Tied to Tehran Assassination and Defense Site Attacks

By The Media Line Staff

Iran announced on Wednesday that it had executed an Iranian man accused of working with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, according to the judiciary’s Mizan news outlet. The man, identified as Mohsen Langarneshin, was convicted of providing operational and technical assistance to Mossad inside Iran.

Authorities claimed Langarneshin had aided in several espionage-related missions, including the 2022 assassination of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer Hassan Sayyad Khodaei in Tehran. He was also accused of supporting a drone attack targeting a facility linked to the Iranian Defense Ministry in Isfahan.

The judiciary stated that Langarneshin’s conviction followed “full legal and judicial procedures,” and that he confessed to the charges. His alleged actions included securing communications equipment for Israeli agents, transferring funds from Israeli handlers to local operatives, and renting safe houses in various Iranian provinces. The report also claimed he purchased and outfitted vehicles for covert operations.

The execution reflects the ongoing shadow war between Iran and Israel, which includes years of covert operations, assassinations, and sabotage attempts on Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure. Iran frequently claims to uncover and dismantle Israeli intelligence networks within its borders, though such cases are often difficult to independently verify.

Tensions between the two countries have escalated sharply since 2020, when senior Iranian officials, including nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, were killed in attacks Tehran blamed on Israel.
