Dubai Sets Tourism Record With 18.72 Million Visitors in 2024

Dubai attracted 18.72 million international overnight visitors in 2024, marking a 9% increase from the previous year’s 17.15 million, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The announcement on Sunday highlights the emirate’s continued growth as a global travel hub.

Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attributed the surge in visitors to the government’s strategic planning and strong partnerships between the public and private sectors. “Through strategic innovation, infrastructure development, talent acquisition, and market diversification, we will continue to enhance Dubai’s competitiveness, attract more international visitors, and enhance tourism’s role as a key driver of economic growth,” he said.

DET Director-General Helal Saeed Almarri described the record-breaking performance as a testament to Dubai’s long-term economic diversification strategy. The tourism boom has also significantly impacted the hospitality industry, with hotel occupancy reaching 78.2% and total room nights booked rising to 43.03 million.

Dubai has positioned itself as a premier global destination through large-scale infrastructure projects, a growing events calendar, and a focus on luxury and business tourism. The city has also capitalized on its strategic location between Europe, Asia, and Africa, making it a preferred transit and vacation spot.

As Dubai continues to expand its tourism offerings, officials aim to maintain this upward trajectory, further solidifying the emirate’s status as a global leader in hospitality and travel.
