Manhunt Ongoing for Suspect in Murder of Minnesota Lawmaker and Her Husband
By The Media Line Staff
Authorities are searching for Vance Boelter, who is accused of fatally shooting Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their residence near Minneapolis early Saturday morning, local time. Police say Boelter approached the couple’s home using a vehicle outfitted to appear as a police cruiser and entered the home disguised as a law enforcement officer.
According to officials, Boelter opened fire inside the home, killing both victims. Law enforcement responded quickly due to heightened alerts following an earlier attack targeting Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his family. At the scene, officers exchanged fire with Boelter, who fled and remains at large.
During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, investigators found a written manifesto listing nearly 70 other Minnesota lawmakers as potential targets. The phrase “No Kings” was also discovered, possibly referring to anti-government demonstrations expected nationwide on Sunday.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Boelter’s capture and conviction. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
Senator Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were injured in the earlier attack, underwent surgery and are now reported to be in stable condition.
Minnesota authorities, supported by federal agencies, continue to conduct an intensive search for Boelter and are urging the public to report any relevant information.
