American fourth seed and last year’s runner-up Taylor Fritz continued his hunt for a first Grand Slam title as he recovered from a second-set blip to move past Swiss Jerome Kym 7-6(3) 6-7(9) 6-4 6-4.
0352 TOWNSEND UPSETS ANDREEVA
American Taylor Townsend stunned Russian fifth seed Mirra Andreeva 7-5 6-2 to reach the last 16 for the second time.
0208 DJOKOVIC MARCHES ON WITH WIN OVER NORRIE
Serbian seventh seed Novak Djokovic continued his quest for a 25th Grand Slam title and a fifth U.S. Open crown as he beat Briton Cameron Norrie 6-4 6-7(4) 6-2 6-3.
The 38-year-old has now surpassed Roger Federer for the most wins at a hardcourt Grand Slam with 192.
On the women’s side, Belarusian top seed Aryna Sabalenka continued her title defence by beating Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6-3 7-6(2).

German Jan-Lennard Struff knocked out American 17th seed Frances Tiafoe 6-4 6-3 7-6(7), clinching the match with a hard-fought tiebreak victory in the third set to reach the fourth round.
2057 SHELTON RETIRES INJURED AGAINST MANNARINO
American sixth seed Ben Shelton retired injured against unseeded Frenchman Adrian Mannarino with the pair locked at two sets all.
Mannarino came back from a set down to level at 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 when the match was abandoned.
The 37-year-old Frenchman will next face Czech Jiri Lehecka.
1938 PEGULA DEFEATS AZARENKA
American fourth seed Jessica Pegula beat two-times Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka 6-1 7-5.
