Polish 25th seed Magdalena Frech defeated Tunisia’s former Wimbledon and U.S. Open runner-up Ons Jabeur 7-6(4) 6-0.

1519 DJOKOVIC BEATS MCDONALD IN STRAIGHT SETS

Novak Djokovic, chasing a fourth Roland Garros title, made the perfect start to his campaign with a dominant 6-3 6-3 6-3 win over American Mackenzie McDonald.

1430 PEGULA CRUSHES TODONI

American third seed Jessica Pegula carved out a comfortable 6-2 6-4 victory over Romanian Anca Todoni to advance to the second round.

1330 Shelton ADVANCES AFTER GASTON WITHDRAWAL

American 13th seed Ben Shelton advanced to the third round after Frenchman Hugo Gaston withdrew.

Briton Cameron Norrie stunned former U.S. Open champion Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-3 4-6 1-6 7-5 in nearly four hours.

1250 GAUFF DISPATCHES GADECKI

American second seed Coco Gauff, French Open finalist in 2022, brushed aside Australian Olivia Gadecki 6-2 6-2 in just over an hour to reach the second round.

1211 DIMITROV RETIRES, QUINN ADVANCES

American qualifier Ethan Quinn advanced to the second round after 16th seed Grigor Dimitrov retired during their match due to injury.

Bulgarian Dimitrov, who won the first two sets 6-2 6-3, took an off-court medical timeout before struggling through the third set which he lost 6-2.

1142 DE MINAUR SEES OFF DJERE

Australian ninth seed Alex de Minaur, who reached the quarter-finals last year, beat Serbian Laslo Djere 6-3 6-4 7-6(6) to book his place in the second round.

1116 KENIN THROUGH WITH WIN OVER GRACHEVA

Former runner-up Sofia Kenin eased past Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva 6-3 6-1 to reach the second round.
