Italian fourth seed Jasmine Paolini, last year’s runner-up at Roland Garros, carved out a comfortable 6-4 6-1 victory over Ukrainian Yuliia Starodubtseva.

1635 RYBAKINA TO FACE SWIATEK

Elena Rybakina brushed aside Latvian 21st seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-2 to reach the fourth round, where the Kazakhstani 12th seed will take on four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek.

1513 RUNE SETS UP MUSETTI CLASH

Danish 10th seed Holger Rune beat local favourite Quentin Halys 4-6 6-2 5-7 7-5 6-2 to set up a fourth-round clash with eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti.

1509 PAUL OVERCOMES KHACHANOV

American 12th seed Tommy Paul was tested by Russia’s Karen Khachanov in a four-hour battle, but prevailed 6-3 3-6 7-6(7) 3-6 6-3 to reach the fourth round, where he faces Australian 25th seed Alexei Popyrin.

Iga Swiatek’s quest for a fourth straight French Open crown continued unimpeded as the Polish fifth seed beat Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian 6-2 7-5 to reach the fourth round.

Australian 25th seed Alexei Popyrin reached the fourth round of the French Open for the first time by beating Portugal’s Nuno Borges 6-4 7-6(11) 7-6(5).

Italian eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti beat Argentine Mariano Navone 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-2, reaching the fourth round of the French Open for the third time.

1128 SABALENKA DISPATCHES DANILOVIC

World number one Aryna Sabalenka brushed aside Serbia’s Olga Danilovic 6-2 6-3 in one hour and 20 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier to reach the fourth round, where she is set to face Amanda Anisimova.

1107 ANISIMOVA THROUGH TO FOURTH ROUND

Former French Open semi-finalist American Amanda Anisimova, seeded 16, beat Clara Tauson of Denmark 7-6(4) 6-4 to reach the round of 16, where she could face Aryna Sabalenka.

1035 CHINA’S ZHENG OVERCOMES MBOKO

Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen beat Canadian Victoria Mboko 6-3 6-4 on Court Simonne-Mathieu to reach the fourth round of the French Open for the second time in her career.
