1738 ITALY’S GIGANTE UPSETS TSITSIPAS
Italian qualifier Matteo Gigante upset former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas, seeded 20th, 6-4 5-7 6-2 6-4 to set up a third-round meeting with American 13th seed Ben Shelton.
Gigante, 23, picked up his first victory against an opponent in the top 20, winning consecutive matches at a tour-level event for the first time.
1552 SWIATEK CRUISES PAST RADUCANU
Four-time champion Iga Swiatek outclassed Britain’s Emma Raducanu 6-1 6-2 to extend her winning streak at Roland Garros to 23 matches and advance to the third round.
The Pole will next face qualifier Sara Bejlek of Czech Republic or Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian.

Former world number three Elina Svitolina of Ukraine outfought Hungarian Anna Bondar to claim a 7-6(4) 7-5 win and move into the third round for the 10th time in her career.
1410 ALCARAZ SURVIVES SECOND-SET SCARE
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz was given a tough time in his meeting with Fabian Marozsan, but responded well to a second-set scare to win 6-1 4-6 6-1 6-2 in just over two hours and reach the third round.
The Spaniard will face either Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia & Herzegovina.
1330 BORGES SHOCKS RUUD
Portugal’s Nuno Borges upset seventh seed and two-time French Open finalist Casper Ruud 2-6 6-4 6-1 6-0 to claim the biggest win of his career and reach the third round.
Ruud looked far from his best and took a medical time out at the end of the third set, receiving treatment on his calf, before slumping to defeat in two hours and 17 minutes.

Matches on some of the outdoor courts have resumed after the rain stopped.

Heavy rain at Roland Garros has forced matches on the outside courts to be suspended.

Last year’s finalist and Italian fourth seed Jasmine Paolini beat Australian Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3 6-3 to reach the third round.
Paolini landed 24 winners, more than twice as many as her opponent.

Italian eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti marched into the third round by beating Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4 6-0 6-4.

Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen was made to work for a 6-2 6-3 win over Colombian Emiliana Arango, with the Chinese eighth seed setting up a third-round clash against Canada’s Victoria Mboko.
