Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin is scheduled to undergo hip surgery Thursday and is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six months, the team announced Wednesday.

The surgery to repair a femoroacetabular impingement and hip labrum on the left side of Seguin’s body will be performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

The timeline likely rules out Seguin for the rest of the regular season and potentially through the first round of the playoffs.

Seguin, 32, was placed on injured reserve Monday, one day after he registered a plus-2 rating and logged 15:08 of ice time in a 3-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.

Seguin has recorded 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) and a plus-14 rating in 19 games during the sixth season of his eight-year, $78.8 million contract. He has played for Dallas since the 2013-14 season following three campaigns with the Boston Bruins, including a Stanley Cup championship in 2010-11

The six-time All-Star has totaled 808 points (360 goals, 448 assists) in 988 career games since being selected by Boston with the second overall pick of the 2010 NHL Draft.
