Jalen Milroe runs for career-high 185 yards and 4 TDs as No. 11 Alabama thrashes No. 14 LSU 42-13

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Jalen Milroe highlighted a career-high 185 yards rushing with four scoring runs, and No. 11 Alabama routed 14th-ranked LSU 42-13. Milroe’s fourth touchdown came on a 72-yard sprint that gave the Crimson Tide a 29-point lead early in the fourth quarter. The victory keeps Alabama firmly in contention for a College Football Playoff berth. But the Tigers dropped virtually out of the running with not only their third loss this season, but their second straight by 15 or more points. Milroe’s performance as a runner eclipsed his previous single-game best of 155 yards and four TDs rushing in a 42-28 victory over LSU a year ago in Tuscaloosa. LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was intercepted twice and lost a fumble.

Dart and Davis help No. 16 Mississippi shut down No. 2 Georgia for 28-10 win

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Jaxson Dart threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Antwane Wells Jr. in the third quarter, and No. 16 Mississippi shut down No. 2 Georgia for a 28-10 victory. Caden Davis kicked five field goals as Mississippi earned its third consecutive win. Ulysses Bentley had a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. A rain-soaked Ole Miss student section stormed the field with 16 seconds left, leading to a delay. The scene was repeated after Dart’s kneeldown closed it out. Georgia scored on a 2-yard run by Nate Frazier early in the first quarter. But Mississippi quickly grabbed control from there.

Utah AD Mark Harlan blasts the Big 12 officiating crew after BYU rallies to beat the Utes

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah athletic director Mark Harlan blasted the Big 12 officiating crew following BYU’s 22-21 win over the Utes for controversial calls on the Cougars’ winning drive. Harlan took the podium shortly before players and coach Kyle Whittingham arrived to address the media. Harlan said the game was stolen and that he will take his complaints to the Big 12 commissioner. Utah appeared to have stopped BYU twice on fourth down on the final drive. Both times, the play was wiped out by officials and the Cougars moved down the field and kicked the winning field goal with four seconds to play.

Coco Gauff has wrapped up her season as well as possible. She won the WTA Finals and the $4.8 million check that came with the trophy and defeated the women ranked Nos. 1 and 2 along the way. Gauff also showed that she can put aside disappointment quickly. Gauff declared the title she won in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the highlight of her 2024. She got past Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) on Saturday. After a disappointing loss at the U.S. Open, Gauff went 13-2 at her last three tournaments, including two titles and a semifinal run.

FIFA and IOC hold different track records with Trump ahead of World Cup and Olympics in US

GENEVA (AP) — The two biggest events in world sports are coming to America. And if President-elect Donald Trump is not thinking about them yet, organizers of the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics certainly are. The World Cup and the Summer Games are rare globally shared cultural moments but there are questions around issues like granting visas and providing security that will cross Trump’s desk. And that requires diplomacy. Soccer body FIFA is in a better place to resume warm relations with Trump from his first administration compared to the International Olympic Committee, which had a difficult White House encounter in 2017.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence out vs the Vikings, leaving Mac Jones to start, AP source says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will miss the second game of his NFL career. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Jaguars had no plans to announce Lawrence’s status until 90 minutes before kickoff against Minnesota. Lawrence has an injury to his non-throwing shoulder that forced him to miss parts of practice all week. Mac Jones is scheduled to make his first start in nearly a year, and it comes in his hometown.

Weah on US roster for CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal vs. Jamaica but suspended for first leg

CHICAGO (AP) — Winger Tim Weah was picked for the U.S. roster for the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against Jamaica but must sit out coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first competitive match while completing a suspension for his red card in the Copa America loss to Panama. Weah was given a two-game suspension for punching defender Roderick Miller on the back of the head in June. The 2-1 defeat contributed to the Americans’ first-round elimination, which led the U.S. Soccer Federation to replace Gregg Berhalter with Pochettino. The U.S. plays at Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday night in the opener of the total-goals series, then hosts the Reggae Boyz on Nov. 18 at St. Louis.

ATLANTA (AP) — Cam Ward and No. 4 Miami finally ran out of second-half comebacks as Haynes King led Georgia Tech to a 28-23 win over the previously unbeaten Hurricanes, giving the Yellow Jackets their first win over a top-five team in 15 years. Fans rushed the field, toppling both goalposts, after the game. King ran for 93 yards with a touchdown and threw for a score. The Yellow Jackets overcame 347 passing yards and three touchdown passes by Ward. Georgia Tech became bowl-eligible and ended a two-game losing streak.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — A person familiar with the matter says San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa has been fined by the NFL for wearing a hat with a pro-Donald Trump message during a postgame television interview. Bosa was fined $11,255 for violating the NFL uniform and equipment rules for wearing a hat that contained a personal message, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the fine wasn’t announced by the NFL. Bosa said earlier this week that he was aware that wearing a white hat that read “Make America Great Again” while crashing a television interview could be subject to a fine. He said it would be “well worth it.”

Dak Prescott is seeking another opinion before season-ending surgery on hamstring, AP source says

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is seeking another opinion before any decision on season-ending surgery on his torn hamstring. Prescott was injured in last week’s 27-21 loss to Atlanta. It would be the second long-term injury in five seasons for the 31-year-old. Prescott broke an ankle in Week 5 in 2020. That’s the most recent season in which the Cowboys missed the playoffs. Cooper Rush will start in Prescott’s place Sunday against Philadelphia.
