Phillies acquire LHP Brooks Raley from Mets

The Philadelphia Phillies continued a busy start to trade deadline day on Monday morning with the addition of veteran reliever Brooks Raley from the New York Mets.

The Mets acquired two prospects, right-hander Luke Gabrysh and outfielder John Spikerman, in exchange.

The Phillies reportedly acquired three-time batting champion Luis Arraez and reliever Caleb Kilian from San Francisco earlier in the day.

The Phillies designated right-hander Nolan Hoffman for assignment to make room for Raley on the 40-man roster.

Raley, 38, is in the middle of the best season of his career after returning from Tommy John surgery last July. He’s 5-5 with a 1.96 ERA in 45 relief appearances, striking out 40 and walking 15 in 41 1/3 innings.

He has allowed two total homers over his 83 appearances across the last three seasons with the Mets and is a pending free agent at the end of the season.

Over nine major league seasons, Raley has a 14-16 record and 3.60 ERA in 302 outings (five starts).

Gabrysh, 23, was a 15th-round pick by Philadelphia in 2024. He’s 3-8 with a 5.14 ERA in 18 games (17 starts) this season for High-A Jersey Shore this season.

Spikerman, 23, was a third-round pick in 2024. He’s hitting .252 with a .423 on-base percentage and 11 RBIs in 32 games between Low-A Clearwater and Jersey Shore.
