The PGA of America hopes to announce the next U.S. Ryder Cup captain in early 2026, Golf Channel reported Thursday.

“It’s our hope to identify the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup captain by the first quarter of next year,” a spokesperson told the outlet.

Who will captain the team at Adare Manor in Ireland still remains a mystery, however, with Tiger Woods’ name perpetually floated.

“No one’s asked me about it,” Woods said Tuesday.

He declined the captaincy in 2025, citing his tight schedule. Instead, Keegan Bradley was selected to lead the team at Bethpage Black in New York, where Team Europe prevailed 15-13.

Woods has been a Ryder Cup vice captain (2016) and was captain of the U.S. Presidents Cup team in 2019.

Bradley said he’d like the job again if the PGA of America invites him back but that the position is Woods’ to lose.

“I think if Tiger wants to do this, he’s going to do it,” Bradley said. “Tiger is not only a hero to all of us that would be on his team, but he’s also an incredible leader and a person that everyone would love to play for. But I’m pretty sure when he wants to do this, he’s going to get to be able to do it.”

Golf Channel identified Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker as other potential candidates to serve as U.S. captain.
