Missouri quarterback Sam Horn underwent season-ending surgery to repair his fractured tibia in his right leg on Wednesday, ESPN reported.

Per the report, doctors anticipate a complete recovery for the versatile Horn, who also was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 17th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.

Horn sustained the injury on a quarterback keeper on the first snap of the Tigers’ season-opening 61-6 victory over Central Arkansas on Aug. 28.

The two-sport athlete missed all of last football season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. A right-handed pitcher, he posted a 0-1 record with a 4.22 ERA in five games last season. He struck out 14 batters in 10 2/3 innings.

Horn, 22, subsequently signed with the Dodgers for just less than $500,000, with the club agreeing he would play football this season and then join the Dodgers following the season.

Penn State transfer Beau Pribula has guided Missouri to a 2-0 start to the season. He has completed 53 of 67 passes for 617 yards and five touchdowns for the Tigers, who host Louisiana on Saturday in Columbia, Mo.

“Beau is really cool, calm, collected,” Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz said. “In the biggest moments, in the toughest times … nails.”
