Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, and head coach Todd Bowles said he’s not ruling him out for Monday’s game at Houston.

Bowles also said Thursday left tackle Tristan Wirfs has a chance to play on “Monday Night Football” at the Texans. Wirfs had knee surgery in July and did not play last week at Atlanta.

Both players currently are scheduled to practice twice before Monday’s game.

“We will see how they come along during the week. They have a lot of tests to pass,” Bowles said.

Wirfs did not line up in a stance with offensive linemen and primary worked into individual drills with a large, black brace wrapped around his right knee.

Bowles said Godwin “flew around” the team’s first on-field practice of the week.

Reports last week indicated that Godwin is targeting a Week 5 return (Oct. 5 at Seattle), and Wirfs was projected to miss at least the first two weeks of the regular season.

Godwin, 29, was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Aug. 21.

He is recovering from a fractured ankle sustained in a Week 7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last season. He wrapped up 2024 with 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns and signed a three-year, $66 million contract during the offseason to return to Tampa Bay.

Across 111 career games with the Bucs, Godwin has racked up 579 catches for 7,266 yards and 39 TDs, along with two rushing scores. He made the Pro Bowl in 2019 and won a ring in Super Bowl LV.
