Houston Astros manager Joe Espada and general manager Dana Brown will remain in their respective roles after the club failed to advance to the postseason for the first time since 2016, MLB.com reported.

The Astros went 87-75 in their second season under Espada and the third with Brown at the helm. It was their lowest number of victories over a full season since they won 70 games in 2014.

Houston won the World Series in 2022, which was Brown’s first season in charge of player-personnel decisions. The team won 106 games during the 2022 regular season but fell to 90 in 2023, 88 in 2024 and 87 this season.

The Astros were in first place by a half of a game on Sept. 17 while heading into a key three-game series against the Seattle Mariners, But they were swept by their division rivals to start a decisive five-game losing streak and finished three games behind the AL West champion Mariners.

Brown traded outfielder Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs last offseason for a package of players that included third baseman Isaac Paredes, who was an American League All-Star this past season. But Paredes played in just 10 games during the second half because of a severe hamstring strain.

The Astros led the AL West by as many as seven games in July but faded down the stretch behind a number of key injuries.
