(SRN NEWS)-(  )  October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month and President Trump has released a statement.  Mr. Trump’s proclamation says that “Every child is created in the holy image and likeness of God with inherent dignity and worth.  We celebrate the extraordinary individuals living with Down Syndrome who bring joy, wonder, and meaning to the world.”  Down Syndrome can be identified by prenatal testing and abortion advocates have been campaigning for years to get women bearing such children to terminate their pregnancies.  Iceland recently announced that it had “eradicated” Down Syndrome by aborting all babies who had it.

(  )  Will Graham is packing his bags.  The grandson of Billy Graham is scheduled to preach the gospel this weekend in Estonia.  Graham, who will be joined by a variety of Christian musicians, will address thousands at a sports arena in the city of Tallinn (tah-LEEN) on October 18th and 19th.  Writing on Facebook Graham says “God is already at work in Estonia, and I can’t wait to see what He’s going to do. Join me in praying for lives to be changed and hearts to be open to Jesus Christ.” This will be the last international trip for Will Graham this year. He’s scheduled to preach four gospel events in Florida later this month.

(  )  Five Christians are going to prison in Iran.  Each of the converts will serve eight years for trying to spread the gospel in the repressive Islamic state.  International Christian Concern says “The persecution of Christians in Iran, particularly those who have converted to the faith, has plagued the nation for decades.  However, despite seemingly insurmountable odds and threats of imprisonment, many Iranians continue to risk everything to worship Christ.”  In fact, independent agencies have estimated that there may be as many as one million Christians living in Iran and the church there is growing despite the best efforts of the Iranian government.

(  )  Christians in India are being refused the right to bury their dead according to their beliefs.  International Christian Concern reports that in more than 20 mostly-Hindu villages, believers have been denied access to local cemeteries.  ICC says a number of these villages have “become hotbeds of Hindu fanaticism, adopting violent methods to impede Christians from practicing their religious freedom guaranteed by India’s Constitution.”  Violence against Christians has been on the rise for the last decade, ever since a Hindu-nationalist party won power in national elections.  Believers make up a tiny minority of India’s vast population.
