(SRN NEWS)-(  )  The Midwest has a well-deserved reputation for friendliness and hospitality but a new report finds the region is having a problem with anti-Semitism.  The survey by the Anti-Defamation League charts a 68 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents around the Midwest from 2023 to 2024.  In fact, the problem is a national and a global one, but the ADL says the rise in anti-Semitic incidents in the Midwest was higher than in any other separate region.  Attacks on Jews have been increasing ever since the October 7th, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel that killed more than 1,200 people and left over 250 as hostages of the Muslim terror group.

(  )  Growing unrest in Nepal has the country’s small Christian community staying watchful and keeping out of sight.  The fear is that radical Hindus will target Christians as they seek power for themselves.  Last week’s massive demonstrations in Nepal ended with more than 70 people killed and hundreds wounded.  The army stepped in to impose a curfew and finally agreed to the establishment of an interim government that will hold elections in six months.  The massive demonstrations got their start earlier this month over a short-lived social media ban.  In Nepal 81 percent of the population is Hindu — Christians make up less than three percent.

(  )  Some lawmakers in Wisconsin, concerned about a rise in anti-Semitism in their state, would like to see a law that adopts a new definition of the problem.  Supporters say the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism should be made a part of Wisconsin law.  Opponents say it’s too broad and could essentially criminalize any criticism of the actions of Israel’s government.  The Jewish Community Relations Council of Milwaukee is firmly in the supporters camp, issuing a statement that says “The IHRA working definition of anti-Semitism has emerged as a vital tool in the fight against anti-Jewish hate”.

(  )  Another attack on Christians in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  More than 70 people were killed in multiple villages when members of the Allied Democratic Forces — a Muslim terror group — launched coordinated attacks last week.  A local official tells International Christian Concern “Like all terrorist groups, the ADF’s objective is to instill fear in order to force the population to join their movement. That’s why they behave this way.”  Muslim terrorism is spreading widely in Sub-Saharan Africa, which has a large population of Christians.  Terrorist groups are operating in multiple countries.
