( ) With about 100 days to go until the Winter Games in Italy, the U.S. Olympic Committee has begun the process of trying to keep males from getting into female events. The Committee now requires athletes who want to compete in women’s events to take an SRY gene test, which identifies the Y chromosome found in males. It’s the same test that track and boxing federations adopted earlier in the year. In July, the USOC barred men from competing in women’s sports, telling its national governing bodies they had an obligation to comply with President Trump’s executive order to that effect.
( ) A federal judge in Oregon has blocked President Trump from pulling sexual education funding over curricula mentioning so-called “gender diversity”. U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken issued the preliminary injunction as part of a lawsuit filed against the Health and Human Services Department by 16 states and the District of Columbia. The plaintiffs argue that pulling such money violates the separation of powers and federal law. HHS has issued a statement saying that it is “committed to the president’s mission of removing radical gender ideology from federal programs.” Mr. Trump has vowed not to force taxpayers to promote the LGBT agenda.

The compensation was negotiated with Germany’s finance ministry and is the largest budget for frail and vulnerable Holocaust survivor home care in the organization’s history. The New York-based Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany says the needs of survivors are increasing because they are all in their 80s and 90s. There are roughly 200,000 survivors still alive, scattered around the world.
( ) Pope Leo has reaffirmed the Catholic Church’s commitment to fighting anti-Semitism on the 60th anniversary of a landmark Vatican document that revolutionized the Church’s relations with Jews. Speaking from the Vatican Wednesday, the pope acknowledged past misunderstandings but emphasized the Church’s Gospel-mandated friendship with Jews. This year’s anniversary comes amid a surge in anti-Semitism following the October 7th, 2023 Hamas attack. In the U.S. alone, the Anti-Defamation League says the number of anti-Semitic incidents reached a record high last year, with nearly 9,500 attacks.
