(SRN NEWS)-( ) Jews around the world are vowing not to be intimidated by rising anti-Semitism. Many are pointing to a speech by Eli Schlanger, an Australian rabbi who was killed in this month’s Bondi Beach massacre, who urged his congregation to “Be more Jewish, act more Jewish and appear more Jewish.” Rabbi Rick Jacobs of the Union for Reform Judaism says “Jewish safety in democratic societies depends on open, shared civic affirmation, supported by political and community leaders and by fellow citizens, not on retreat behind closed doors. Stepping into the public square and normalizing Jewish presence is how we defend ourselves.”
( ) President Trump is a big sports fan and he has taken his campaign against transgenderism into the world of athletics. Early in his term, Mr. Trump signed an executive order called “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports”. The next day, the NCAA amended its own rules to adhere to the administration’s guidance on transgenderism. Several months later, and with no fanfare, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee changed its policy to conform with Mr. Trump’s. It was a move Olympic legal expert Jill Pilgrim says was backed by a “well-reasoned set of arguments.”
( ) President Trump has established a 2028 Olympic Games task force to prepare for the big event in Los Angeles. While announcing the task force Mr. Trump also took time to praise Gene Sykes, chair of the U.S. Olympic Committee board of directors, for banning men from competing in women’s sports. The president said “The United States will not let men steal trophies from women at the 2028 Olympics.” A growing number of international sports governing bodies are moving to bar males from competing against females ahead of the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee is still considering the matter.
