(SRN NEWS)-(  )  U.S. Catholic bishops have voted to make official a ban on sex-change operations at the nation’s many Catholic hospitals. The decision formalizes a yearslong process for the U.S. church to address the issue. The bishops approved revisions to their ethical and religious directives that guide the nation’s thousands of Catholic hospitals and providers.  More than one in seven patients in the U.S. are treated each day at Catholic hospitals, according to the Catholic Health Association.  These hospitals are also the only medical centers in some small communities.  The bishops have been holding their annual meeting in Baltimore.

(  )  Apple says it has pulled two of China’s biggest gay dating apps under pressure from Chinese authorities. An Apple spokesman says the company removed the two apps “based on an order from the Cyberspace Administration of China”.  Beijing has been seeking to curb the spread of the LGBT agenda, even as other Asian nations give in to political pressure and legalize gay marriage.  Asia is generally considered to be a socially conservative region, but LGBT advocates are in the midst of a campaign to break down local restrictions and promote their agenda at the local, state and federal level.

(  )  Legal experts say the Supreme Court’s decision not to revisit gay marriage this term is likely to be permanent, unless some of the sitting justices step down.  Chief Justice John Roberts voted against legalizing homosexual unions in 2015, but has since remained silent on the subject.  Justice Samuel Alito has continued to criticize the decision, but he said recently that he was not advocating that it be overturned.  Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who was not on the court in 2015, has said that the decision may need to be left in place because people now rely on the ruling when they marry and have children.

(  )  A group of 17 transgender members of the Air Force is suing over what they claim is the military’s unlawful revocation of their early retirement pensions and benefits.  The lawsuit comes several months after the Air Force confirmed that it would deny all transgender service members who have served less than two years the option to retire early and would instead separate them without retirement benefits.  Shortly after coming to office, President Trump issued a ban on transgenderism in the military.  LGBT pressure groups are suing, but the Supreme Court is allowing the ban to be enforced while the case moves through the courts.
