(SRN NEWS)  As the U.S. and Israeli offensive against Iran unfolds, some Evangelical leaders in this country are speaking of the conflict in Biblical terms, mapping end-time prophecies on to current events in the Middle East.  In a recent sermon Pastor John Hagee (HAY-gee), founder of Christians United for Israel, described the war as part of a divine plan adding “Prophetically, we’re right on cue.”  There is a general hope amongst most Christians that new leadership will arise in Iran that will be more peaceful and less apt to persecute those who follow Christ.  Iran is one of the most dangerous nations on earth for a person to be a Christian.

(  )  Muslim parents and several Islamic private schools are suing Texas leaders over a private school voucher program they say blocks them because of religion.  The state says schools associated with the accreditation company Cognia (cog-NEE-uh) had hosted events organized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.  That Muslim civil rights group was recently designated a terrorist organization by the Texas government and any affiliates would be ineligible for a voucher.  The U.S. State Department has not designated CAIR a terrorist group.  Texas established the voucher program under a law Republican Governor Greg Abbott signed in 2025.
(  )  Religious freedom advocates are warning that hate crimes laws in Europe are leading to restrictions on people of faith.  International Christian Concern says Europe’s Digital Services Act can affect speech even in the U.S. because “it incentivizes companies to comply with its requirements and revise their worldwide content moderation policies. From politics to religion, online content is being classified as hate speech.”  Finland is currently prosecuting a former member of its legislature for merely quoting verses from Paul’s letter to the Romans condemning homosexuality.  Finland’s Supreme Court is currently considering her case.

(  )  Six years after the repeal of Roe versus Wade, a picture of abortion in the United States is coming into focus.  According to the annual report from National Right to Life, just about two-thirds of all abortions are now carried out by the use of drugs and those drugs can be shipped virtually anywhere in the country.  The report also finds that half of all states have moved to enshrine abortion in law or their state constitutions.  The other half of the 50 states place some kind of serious restrictions on the procedure, including some where it is virtually banned altogether.
