(SRN NEWS) – The Senate has rejected legislation aiming at barring males from competing against females in school sports. Democrats united against the bill and managed to stop it from advancing.  Transgenderism in the schools has become an important topic for voters and Republicans warn that Americans will remember what Senate Democrats did at the next election.  President Trump signed an executive order last month giving federal agencies wide latitude to ensure entities that receive federal funding do not allow boys to invade girls’ sports.

The Census Bureau is seeking permission to delete questions about so-called “gender identity” from a monthly survey. The agency says the request is being made to align with President Trump’s order to strip federal money from programs that promote gender ideology.  At the same time, the statistical agency has canceled a spring meeting for an advisory committee set up to provide guidance for the 2030 census. The once-a-decade headcount will likely influence politics and federal spending for many years to come.

A man from Tunisia has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in France for the murders of three people at a church in 2020.  During his trial, the 25-year-old admitted responsibility for the attack in a basilica in the French Riviera city of Nice.  He said he wanted to avenge Muslims killed around the world by Western nations.  The attack was the third in less than two months that year which French authorities attributed to Islamic extremists.  It prompted the government to raise its security alert to the maximum level for a time.
