(SRN NEWS) – Access to religious services has been restricted in New York’s state prisons after National Guard troops were deployed amid a labor strike by corrections officers. The strikes have upended the lives of prison inmates and their families, who have been denied access to everything from lawyers to family visits, and medical treatment. Around 30 prisons are affected by strikes or picketing. 

Catholic bishops are suing the Trump administration over its abrupt halt to funding of refugee resettlement, calling the action unlawful and harmful to newly arrived refugees. They say the administration is withholding millions of dollars even for reimbursements of costs incurred before the sudden cut-off of funding. Vice President JD Vance recently accused the bishops conference of resettling “illegal immigrants” in order to get millions in federal funding.

Police in Glasgow, Scotland, arrested a 74-year-old woman for allegedly breaching an abortion clinic buffer zone. She was participating in pro-life vigils outside an abortion facility despite Scotland’s crackdown on pro-life activity. Christian Today reports that the pro-life group “40 Days for Life” plans to meet every day outside the clinic between early March and mid-April. 

“The Chosen” is coming to Amazon Prime Video. After the new season debuts in movie theaters next month, Prime Video will be the streaming home for the popular series about the life of Jesus Christ. Last year, “The Chosen” severed ties with Angel Studios, which had distributed the show when it first premiered in 2019.
