(SRN NEWS) – Lawmakers in some states are pushing measures to crack down on abortion pills or penalize women who obtain abortions. Some of the efforts appear to be stalled this year. It’s too early to tell whether others will gain momentum. Several states have banned abortion, but only Louisiana so far has specifically classified certain abortion drugs as controlled dangerous substances. The International Boxing Association says it will file criminal complaints against the International Olympic Committee in the U.S., France and Switzerland. The IBA says that the Swiss-based IOC allowing two males to fight females in last year’s Paris Olympics “may serve as grounds for criminal prosecution.” The Russian-led boxing body cites an executive order on transgender athletes issued by President Trump to justify the criminal complaints. The two male boxers in question both won gold medals in Paris, sparking international outrage.
Male college students in Utah will be prohibited from living in female dorms under a bill that has cleared a final legislative hurdle. It has passed with veto-proof margins in both chambers and now heads to the desk of Republican Governor Spencer Cox, who has expressed support for the measure. Under the legislation, students at the state’s public colleges and universities can only enter or live in a gendered space, such as a dorm building, locker room or bathroom, that corresponds with their biological sex. Similar measures are advancing in other states.
President Trump is ready to take his fight against transgenderism to the International Olympic Committee. Mr. Trump wants the IOC to “change everything having to do with the Olympics and having to do with this absolutely ridiculous subject” ahead of the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles. The president is fresh off signing an executive order designed to keep men out of women’s sports. The order empowers both the Secretary of State and the Department of Homeland Security to take steps to keep international transgender athletes from competing in the U.S.
