(SRN NEWS) – Minnesota’s governing body for high school sports says it will follow state law and continue to allow boys to compete against girls.  The Minnesota State High School League says the participation by, and eligibility of transgender athletes is controlled by the Minnesota Human Rights Act and the state constitution.  President Trump has signed an executive order giving federal agencies wide latitude in pulling federal funding if male athletes are allowed in girls’ and women’s sports.  Prep sports associations in other liberal states might also defy the president.

The Trump administration has told the Supreme Court that the federal government no longer backs transgender minors and their families in Tennessee who are challenging a state ban on puberty blocking drugs.  The court’s conservatives, in December, had already seemed likely to uphold the state ban on puberty blockers and hormone treatments. The formal notification of the change is the latest in a flurry of actions by the new administration aimed at ending President Biden’s promotion of transgenderism.  A Supreme Court decision is due this summer.

Michigan state Representative Laurie Pohutsky (poh-HUT-skee) says she has undergone surgery to remove her reproductive organs out of concern about contraception access.  The 36-year-old Democrat says the decision was finalized by President Trump’s re-election.  Physicians have reported a rise in the number of Democratic women who have been seeking permanent sterilizations after the November election.  President Trump says he “has never and will never” advocate for restricting birth control and other contraceptives, and he has taken no such action since returning to office.

President Trump has announced the establishment of a White House faith office led by Paula White-Cain, a longtime pastor in the independent charismatic world.  An early supporter of Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential bid, she led his Faith and Opportunity Initiative in 2019, advising faith-based organizations on ways to partner with the federal government.  While Democrats are complaining about the faith office, observers point out that most previous presidents have had one — including President Biden.  A separate task force set up by President Trump will seek to root out anti-Christian bias in government.
