(SRN NEWS) – The leader of a prominent European Jewish organization says authorities across Europe need to immediately take action against a precipitous rise in anti-Semitism.  He says it’s driving thousands of Jews to abandon the continent.  Rabbi Menachem Margolin, chairman of the European Jewish Association, points out that some 40,000 Jews have already left Europe with no intention of returning as a result of a rise in anti-Semitic sentiment.  The rabbi says 2025 will be a “critical year” for European Jews that will determine their future on the continent.

West Virginia has a new governor.  Republican Patrick Morrisey was sworn in on Monday vowing to keep the state conservative.  He had been the state attorney general since 2013 where he made a dogged defense of pro-life laws, school voucher programs and efforts to keep boys out of girls bathrooms and locker rooms in the public schools.  Morrisey says he plans to eliminate all vestiges of the liberal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion program that has spread to state governments all across the nation, and is currently being widely repudiated.

Bill McCartney is being eulogized by Christian leaders across the country after his death at age 84 following a battle with dementia.  McCartney, who coached Colorado to its only football national championship in 1990, was the founder of the Promise Keepers men’s movement.  His family has released a statement saying “Our father surrendered his life to Jesus at 33 years old setting a trajectory for our family and many others. We share his faith in Jesus and truly believe our dad has been reunited in heaven with our mother, Lynne Marie.”

Anti-Semitism has reared its head in Australia — again.  Lawmen in Sydney say two synagogues were defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti this month, hard on the heels of several similar incidents in Australia to end last year.  Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is condemning these latest attacks, saying they are “abhorrent and need to stop.  Australia is a better place than this.”  The two Sydney synagogues were defaced with swastikas and various anti-Semitic slogans.  The vandals also wrote “Allahu akbar”, which means “God Is Great” in Arabic.
