Boston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong is recovering after surgery on his right hand, the team announced Thursday.

The procedure was an excision of a carpal boss, defined by the Cleveland Clinic as a benign “bony overgrowth” found on the back of the hand or wrist.

Dr. Matthew Leibman performed the surgery at Mass General Brigham Hospital on Thursday morning.

The Red Sox did not provide a recovery timeline for Wong, who just completed his fifth season with the team.

Wong, 29, batted .190 with eight doubles and seven RBIs in 63 games during the 2025 regular season.

He is a career .245 hitter with 23 homers and 103 RBIs in 348 games since making his major league debut in 2021.
