Adolis Garcia was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained left ankle and the Texas Rangers activated fellow outfielder Evan Carter before the finale of their home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Garcia, 32, is batting .224 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs this season. The two-time All-Star had a four-game hitting streak before going 0-for-4 in Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to the Diamondbacks but is batting .196 in August.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday night the Rangers “were just bad” in the loss and pointed to ongoing offensive issues as a concern as Texas attempts to keep pace in the wild-card race.

Carter, 22, last played on Aug. 1 and is batting .238 with four home runs and 21 RBIs this season. Carter had a .185 batting average in July.

Carter, drafted out of high school with the 50th overall pick by the Rangers in 2020, was placed on the IL with a back injury.
