The Texas Rangers called up top outfield prospect Alejandro Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock to make his major league debut on Sunday afternoon against the host Chicago White Sox.

Also Sunday, the Rangers placed designated hitter/first baseman Joc Pederson on the 10-day injured list and designated outfielder Kevin Pillar for assignment.

Osuna, 22, was set to bat sixth in the lineup and play in left field against the White Sox.

The Rangers’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2024, Osuna has combined to bat .279 with two home runs and 15 RBIs over 39 games with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock this season.

He is listed by MLB Pipeline as the No. 7 overall prospect in the Rangers’ system.

Pederson, 33, sustained a fractured right hand in Texas’ 10-5 loss to the White Sox on Saturday when he was hit by a pitch from Bryse Wilson in the fourth inning. He stayed in the game long enough to score on Marcus Semien’s sacrifice fly, but Kyle Higashioka handled the designated hitter role the rest of the way.

Signed to a two-year, $37 million deal in the offseason, Pederson is batting a career-low .131 with two homers and six RBIs in 46 games this season.

Pillar, 36, hit .209 with no home runs and one RBI over 20 games with the Rangers this season.
