New England Patriots rookie left tackle Will Campbell will be placed on injured reserve with a knee sprain, head coach Mike Vrabel announced on Wednesday.
Campbell, the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, sustained the injury this past Sunday and was carted off the field during the third quarter of New England’s 26-20 victory over the host Cincinnati Bengals.
The blind-side protector of quarterback Drake Maye will sit out Patriots’ next four games as a result of the transaction.
Vrabel said Vederian Lowe, who was a starter last season, is expected to assume Campbell’s spot.
Campbell, 21, is eligible to return for New England’s regular-season finale against the Miami Dolphins in Foxborough, Mass. The Patriots (10-2) are riding a nine-game winning streak and positioned for a strong playoff seed.
Campbell has started all 12 games this season, while Lowe has yet to start while appearing in all 12 games.
New England also announced that it has signed cornerback Miles Battle to the 53-man roster, while rookie cornerback Brandon Crossley was signed to the practice squad. Battle, 25, has played one game for the Patriots in each of the past two seasons, seeing action on a combined five special-teams snaps.
