PARIS (Reuters) – Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands won the women’s 10km marathon swimming gold at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, snatching the lead off Australian silver medallist Moesha Johnson late in the final lap.
Ginevra Taddeucci won the bronze for Italy.
The race went ahead on schedule after organisers said the water quality in the Seine river had met acceptable thresholds.
